Account and profile
Clerk manages sign-in and the account. Guitar XP receives a stable account ID and the profile details you provide to Clerk. MusicMania syncs the display name and profile image used by your player profile; it does not copy your email address into the public player profile. The web account-deletion flow loads Clerk and its necessary session cookies only after you visit that page.
Practice and progress
Guitar XP first stores settings, imported scores, instrument mappings, and practice history locally on your device. For signed-in accounts, bounded client-reported practice evidence is synchronized with the account:
- Song and section identifiers, plus the song title
- Completion time, local calendar day, and active practice duration
- Score, combo, judgment counts, misses, learning-path stars, and local practice XP
Private score imports
MusicXML and MIDI files are imported on the device. For PDF or camera imports, the app uploads the score pages you approve to a private R2 bucket. A bounded conversion task processes them with Audiveris and stores the MusicXML result privately for review and download. Jobs are account-scoped and short-lived signed URLs limit object access.
MIDI, microphone, and camera
MIDI input stays on your device. Microphone audio is analyzed in memory only and is not recorded, stored, or uploaded. The document scanner processes score pages in the native scanner interface; selected pages are uploaded for private conversion only after you acknowledge the rights and approve the batch.
Ads and purchases
When ads are enabled, Google Mobile Ads and the User Messaging Platform process consent information, ad requests, and server-verified rewards. MusicMania does not put an email address in ad reward callbacks. When you buy or restore Ad Free, RevenueCat and Apple or Google process purchase and entitlement data; only the stable Clerk account ID is used as the RevenueCat customer identifier. Store purchase histories remain governed by the relevant store.
Service providers
Depending on the feature you use, MusicMania processes data with specialized infrastructure and platform providers. Each provider receives the part of the flow needed for its role:
- Clerk for identity, sign-in, and sessions
- Neon for account records, and Cloudflare Workers, Hyperdrive, and R2 for the API, database connection, and private score files
- Trigger.dev for the bounded conversion task once hosted score conversion is enabled
- Google Mobile Ads and UMP for ads and privacy choices, plus RevenueCat, Apple, and Google for purchases
- Vercel for this website; public marketing and privacy pages initialize neither product analytics nor the Clerk frontend
Retention and deletion
There is no general time-based deletion schedule for active-account data. The following currently implemented retention boundaries apply:
- Local data remains on the device until you remove it in the app, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.
- Synced practice data and private uploads and conversions remain associated with the account until account deletion, unless a later product-level deletion control removes them sooner.
- Account deletion removes profile data, practice evidence, rewards, private score files, and connected provider profiles. Only a one-way hash of the account ID remains as a minimal replay defense; Apple or Google controls store purchase history.
Your choices
You can revoke microphone and camera access in system settings. When UMP reports that privacy options are required, you can reopen them from app settings. You can permanently delete your account and associated data in the app or on the account-deletion page. Product analytics is not currently enabled; it will not be added without a separate consent and data-minimization decision.
Delete accountIntended audience
Guitar XP is designed for music learners aged 13+ and adults. It is not in the Kids Category and is not a child-directed service. A low store age rating describes content suitability, not the intended audience. MusicMania does not currently collect a date of birth or infer age from it.
